Inclusive Mental Health Initiative

We promote multicultural clinical awareness.

The Inclusive Mental Health Initiative (IMHI) represents Spark Center’s effort toward strengthening the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary to promote therapeutic environments that heighten multicultural clinical awareness and encourage equitable participation of all groups while seeking to address and acknowledge issues of oppression, privilege, and power.

Our primary focus is on creating and launching related consultation, supervision, mentorship, and facilitated support groups, professional development programs, and psychoeducational opportunities (e.g., social justice & inclusion competency) tailored for trainees, associates, and interns, therapists, and supervisors of color as well as their allies.

We’re also identifying and developing innovative mental health service delivery models to better reach and support communities of color in order to provide affordable and accessible therapeutic services that are better aligned with and attuned to the unique needs and challenges (e.g., racial trauma, internalized oppression, stigma and shame resilience, etc.) of these communities.
